Lithium Battery Repairs

A number of modern vehicles are now equipped with 48 Volt lithium batteries, These batteries power a number of features on modern vehicles, Including Hybrid motors and suspension components such as active roll bars. The lithium battery pack can cost around £1500, we have had good experience in these systems and have had a good number of cars diagnosed as requiring replacement battery whilst not always possible we have managed to work on and recover a number of original batterys meaning a significant cost saving compared to simply replacing the lithium pack. Audi Starter Generator Replacement

Some modern VW Group vehicles (Mainly Audi V8 twin turbo engines) are fitted with a 48 Volt (water cooled) Starter Generator unit rather than a conventional 12 Volt Alternator and Separate Starter. These units are often fitted deep within the engine. We have carried out a good number of replacements and can offer replacement using Audi official tools and diagnostic computer at a fraction of the cost from a Main Dealer, please contact the team for an accurate quotation for your vehicle.

Timing Belt Replacement

Timing belts (also referred to as cambelts) should be changed at regular intervals during routine servicing. The timing belt is a critical component, should a timing belt fail it can often lead to significant engine damage.

Braking Components:

Richter Automotive offer a number of Braking options, we specalise in all VW Group vehicles but can often offer for other makes. From straight forward pads and discs replacement through to upgrade brake systems and even retro fit of Factory Ceramic Systems onto Audi S and RS Models we have it all covered. Brake Fluid Change:

Brake fluid is Hydroscopic, meaning it can absorb water or moisture. If brake fluid contains significant water it can potentially boil meaning possible loss of brakes. Most manufacturers recommend a fluid change every 2 years. Here at Richter we offer a fixed price fluid change using the latest Snap On powerbleed system at £XXX we flush the system through with new brake fluid meaning all water is removed.

General Diagnostics

Richter Automotive offer a full range of diagnostics, specialising in VW Group vehicles, we have a number of diagnostic tools including Genuine VW Group (ODIS) , VCDS, OBD11, VCP and Launch. We have technicians available up to Audi Master Technician level.

ECU Repairs

A modern vehicle can have up to 50 control units fitted controlling all aspects of the vehicle. Control units are often expensive, and often the first line of action is to simply replace a faulty control unit with either an Exchange or Brand new control unit from the manufacturer. Here at Richter first we check any wiring against the factory wiring diagrams and if we find a faulty control unit we often have the ability to send the unit away for repair at a fraction of the cost. Quite often repaired units come with a warranty covering the repair of the unit. We also have full level VW Group diagnostics as an official independent workshop meaning we can remove security such as component protection and also download and parameterise the control units directly via the servers in Germany.

DSG Gearbox Servicing and Repairs

The DSG “Direct Shift Gearbox” is fitted to a large number of VW Group vehicles. The DSG gearbox is extremely popular as it gives a very fast and smooth gear change compared to a traditional torque converter automatic gearbox. It is extremely important to maintain and service these to manufacturers schedule. Here at Richter Automotive we can offer regular oil and filter changes using genuine VW Group products. The DSG box is more like a conventional manual gearbox and utilises a mechatronics unit to automate the gear shifts, the mechatronics units are prone to failure if servicing of the gearbox is not maintained, We do offer a repair service on mechatronics units which means we can make a significant cost saving by sending away the defective unit for inspection and repair as opposed to replacing with a brand new unit directly from VW Group.
